Approx. 10 road miles from the yard to the middle of Centennial, around 16 minutes — the east side is closer.

Centennial is approx. 10 road miles from the yard to the middle of the city, around 16 minutes, and same-day when you call before noon. It is a city of 108,658 by the Census Bureau's July 2025 estimate (108,418 at the 2020 Census).

The City provides no trash service — private companies do, and some HOAs contract one hauler. Its code is the most detailed on dumpsters of any city we cover, so read the rules below before you book.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Centennial

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • No City trash service — "The City does not provide cable, internet, telephone, gas, electricity, trash, water or sewer service." Some HOAs contract one hauler for better rates and fewer trucks.
  • Why the rules exist — the code says unpermitted or badly placed large containers near streets and sidewalks are "a danger to public health and safety" (Sec. 7-5-10).
  • South Metro Waste Diversion Plan — Centennial is a partner with Littleton, Englewood and Sheridan.
  • Spring e-waste event — the City generally hosts one every spring; the 2026 event took 58,439 lb of electronics.
  • City Hall at 13133 E. Arapahoe Rd; the 24-hour Citizen Response Center is 303-325-8000.

What comes out of Centennial properties

Cleanouts in 15s and 20s, kitchens, baths and roofs in 20s, and a 10 for concrete and brick. A cleanout with no building permit gets 7 days on the driveway, so have the crew ready before the container lands. Colorado's landfill bans apply: no lead-acid batteries, liquids, used oil, tires or electronics.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Centennial

Who may haul: we found no hauler licence in the Centennial code — a search for "hauler" turns up nothing. Anyone pulling a general right-of-way permit must be a City-licensed, bonded contractor.

On your driveway — the rule that matters: Sec. 7-5-40 allows a dumpster on residential property in two cases. With a valid City building permit, it stays for the job and must go within 7 days of the permit expiring or the work finishing. With no building permit, it may stay 7 consecutive days — or up to a year if it sits behind the house and is screened from the street. Either way it must be at least 5 ft from any property line or public right-of-way.

In the street: Sec. 7-5-30 bans dumpsters on public property without a City permit, and the City says they "are not allowed on public residential streets" except for HOAs, civic groups or five or more residents of the same subdivision doing a cleanup. The City's form puts that permit at $50 for 7 calendar days, within 18 inches of the curb, with cones at the corners and the permit posted on each end. The same form also mentions up to 120 days with a building permit while saying no dumpster may stay more than 7 consecutive days — it contradicts itself, so confirm the time limit with Public Works (303-325-8000) first.

Knocking something down: the City issues Residential and Commercial Demolition permits. Colorado's asbestos inspection and 10-working-day CDPHE demolition notice apply on top.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Centennial

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it below the top rail and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil, liquids, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, TVs and computers, and fridges or A/C units with refrigerant still in them. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to a permitted landfill such as the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site, with metal, concrete, cardboard and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Seven consecutive days with no building permit. With a City building permit, for the job and up to 7 days after the permit expires or the work is done. Keep it 5 ft from the property line.
