Yard Waste Dumpster Rental across Douglas County and the south metro
Yards here make debris in bursts. A wind or hail storm comes through and limbs are down; a landscaping redo pulls out beds, shrubs, sod and mulch all at once; fall cleanup fills bag after bag. Weekly trash is not built for it, and the drop-off sites have limits: Douglas County's GreenWorks slash and yard waste site at 5675 Delva Way in Sedalia is open Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for Douglas County residents only, with loads covered and no contractor drop-offs — and it takes no stumps, roots, dirt, lumber, fencing or trash. A container on the driveway takes all of it, the week it happens.
Two things shape the job. Clean green waste is worth keeping clean: we divert it to mulch and compost where facilities allow, and bagged household trash, lumber or plastic mixed in turns it into a load nobody wants. And yard waste is bulky and light until it is not: soil, sod, wet leaves and stumps are heavy. We size for the mix.
At a glance
What you get with yard waste dumpster rental
- Branches, brush, shrubs, leaves, grass clippings, sod, mulch, weeds and small stumps
- A 15 or 20 yard for most homes, a 10 for soil
- Same-day or next-day after a storm when you call before noon, depending on availability
- No bags, no trailers, no residents-only rules
- Clean green waste kept separate for mulch and compost
- Landscapers and property managers: scheduled pickups and long-term contracts
Storm cleanup, tree work and landscape redos
Storm cleanup is the big one. Wind and hail take out limbs and fences across whole neighborhoods at once, and the town programs cannot keep up: Lone Tree runs City-wide yard waste collection two months a year, in spring and fall; Greenwood Village's large-item pickup wants branches cut to 10 feet and turns away sod, soil, mulch, bark, rock and pavers; Foxfield's yard waste has to fit the 96-gallon Republic carts; and the County's GreenWorks site is closed to contractors. A 20 yard on the driveway takes the lot in one go.
Landscape and tree jobs are the planned version — beds, shrubs and hedges out, a tree trimmed or removed, mulch replaced, a property readied for sale or a rental turnover, a fence or deck replaced alongside. Landscapers and property managers book scheduled pickups, and for mixed jobs we can set separate containers for the green waste and everything else.
Soil, stumps and the weight line
Branches, brush and hedge trimmings are light. Soil, sod, wet leaves, stumps and roots are not. A 20 of brush is nowhere near its weight allowance; a 20 heaped with dirt is well over it. Tell us the mix and we will size it — usually a 15 or 20 for the green waste and, if there is a lot of soil, a 10 loaded level alongside. Keep dirt and rock out of the green waste unless we have approved it.

Yard waste — the local specifics
Every town runs its own yard program, and none of them is built for a whole yard at once. Douglas County: GreenWorks at 5675 Delva Way in Sedalia, next to the Sedalia Landfill, takes brush, grass and hay, leaves, natural mulch, pine needles, pinecones, sawdust, shrubs, sod, tree limbs and weeds, Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from County residents only, with no contractor drop-offs; Castle Rock points its residents there. Larkspur: a free Town slash pile on Frank Road for residents, by appointment through Town Hall at 303-681-2324. Lone Tree: City-wide yard waste collection two months a year with Waste Connections. Greenwood Village: a fall leaf drop-off at Village Greens Park for residents. Highlands Ranch: branch chipping at HRCA's Clear the Clutter days. A container is for the pile that is bigger, heavier or sooner than that. The what can and cannot go in guide explains what has to stay out of a green load and where it goes instead.

Answers
Yard Waste Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do I need to bag or bundle the brush?
No. Throw it in as it comes — no bagging, no bundling. The only things that matter are staying below the top rail and keeping household trash out of it.
Can I put dirt in a yard waste dumpster?
Yes, in its own 10 yard loaded level. Soil is heavy, and a bigger box heaped with it is more than the truck can safely haul. Tell us it is part of the job when you book and we will plan the loads.
Can I put a whole tree in?
Cut to fit, yes — branches, logs and small stumps are fine. Keep everything below the top rail. Big stumps and root balls are heavy, so tell us about them.
How fast after a storm can you deliver?
Call before noon the morning after and we can often have a container on the driveway the same day or next day. In a big storm week we tell you honestly where you are in the queue.
Do you compost or recycle green waste?
Clean green loads are diverted to mulch and compost where facilities allow. Treated lumber, plastic or household trash in the box spoils that.
