Residential Dumpster Rental across Douglas County and the south metro

Homes around here vary enough that one container does not fit all of them. A townhome or a tight cul-de-sac wants a 10 or a 15 and a driver who takes it slowly. A newer subdivision in Parker — Stroh Ranch, Clarke Farms, Pradera, Meridian Village — or in Castle Rock or Highlands Ranch may have room for a 20, and an HOA with its own covenants. An acreage out in Franktown, Elizabeth or Kiowa has room for anything. The first thing we ask on the phone is what your driveway looks like.

Most residential jobs are one of three things: a cleanout (a garage, a basement, or a whole house before a move or a sale), a remodel (kitchen, bath, flooring, roof), or the yard — landscaping, a tree coming down, storm cleanup. Each wants a different size and a different talk about weight. The size comparison covers the numbers, the home renovation guide covers the planning, and the phone call covers your job.

What actually fills a residential container

Garage, basement and estate cleanouts lead the way: furniture, boxes, mattresses, clothing, the contents of a shed. Kitchen and bath remodels are next — cabinets, tile, drywall, flooring, fixtures. Then the outdoor jobs: shingles off a roof after a hail storm, an old deck or fence, a landscaping redo, storm limbs.

Weekly trash is not built for any of that. Parker does not provide trash service at all — residents use their HOA's hauler or set up their own — and neither do Castle Rock, Littleton, Centennial or unincorporated Douglas County. Where a city does run trash, the big stuff is still left out: Lone Tree's Waste Connections service collects bulky items only by special arrangement, paid for by the resident, and Greenwood Village's large-item pickup refuses roofing and siding, drywall, fences and decks, concrete, landscaping materials and anything from a project that needed a building permit. In Foxfield, trash and yard waste have to fit the 96-gallon Republic carts. Anything bigger, heavier or sooner than that is what a residential roll-off is for.

Driveway placement, street rules and HOAs

On your own driveway in Parker we found no Town permit for a roll-off. Boards can go under the dumpster to protect the surface, and the driver sets the container where you want to load it — on a hard, flat surface, off grass, soft soil and septic systems. The street is another matter. Parker requires a Street Occupancy Permit, applied for on eTRAKiT through Engineering and Public Works, to place a dumpster in the Town right-of-way for more than 24 hours, and the Town's construction manual says dumpsters are not to go in the right-of-way without the Town's specific approval. The fee is not published, so call 303.840.9546 before you plan on the street.

Two more things. HOAs: since House Bill 22-1139 in 2022, an HOA cannot forbid lawful use of the public right-of-way — but that law is about the street, so check your covenants before you book a driveway rental. And the other towns differ: Highlands Ranch keeps dumpsters in the driveway and wants a call to HRCA (303-471-8821); Centennial allows a driveway dumpster 7 consecutive days without a building permit; Castle Rock's code keeps refuse containers out of the street and the front-yard setback unless the Town approves it; Aurora does not allow dumpsters on the public street. Each town page says what that town's code asks for.

Residential dumpster rental — the Colorado specifics

Colorado keeps a short list of things that cannot go to a landfill, and a mixed roll-off load ends up at one. CDPHE lists lead-acid batteries, liquid wastes, used oil, waste tires and waste electronic devices and computers. State law has banned residential lead-acid batteries from landfills since July 1, 2007 (C.R.S. 30-20-1002) — take car and truck batteries to a retailer or wholesaler that collects or recycles them, a secondary lead smelter, or a collection or recycling facility. Electronics — computers, monitors, TVs, laptops, tablets, printers — have been banned since July 1, 2013. Fridges, freezers and A/C units are a federal matter: EPA rules make the final disposer responsible for recovering the refrigerant, so tell us before one goes in. Douglas County residents can recycle electronics and drop off household hazardous waste free at GreenWorks, 5675 Delva Way in Sedalia, by appointment at 303-660-7480. The what can and cannot go in guide covers where each banned item goes instead.

Answers

Residential Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

Not if it is set properly. Ask for boards under the dumpster and the driver puts them down. Tell us before delivery if a surface worries you — fresh concrete, pavers, a cracked slab, grass or soft ground — and we will plan around it.

Can I put the dumpster on the street instead?

In Parker, check first. A dumpster in the Town right-of-way for more than 24 hours needs a Street Occupancy Permit through eTRAKiT, and the fee is not published — call Engineering and Public Works at 303.840.9546. Elsewhere it varies: Castle Pines issues a street permit at $370 for 90 days, Aurora does not allow dumpsters on the public street, Centennial issues residential street permits only to HOAs and groups of five or more residents, and Highlands Ranch keeps them in the driveway. The driveway is always simpler.

Does my HOA have a say?

On the driveway, often yes. House Bill 22-1139 stops an HOA from forbidding lawful use of the public right-of-way, but covenants can still cover containers on your lot. We do not know your HOA's rules — check them before you book, especially for a longer rental. In Highlands Ranch, call HRCA Community Improvement Services at 303-471-8821 with your address and dates.

Can I put old appliances in the dumpster?

Not fridges, freezers or A/C units with refrigerant still in them — federal EPA rules make the final disposer responsible for recovering it, so those need to be arranged in advance. TVs and computers are banned from Colorado landfills. Tell us what you have and we will point you to the right place, or let our junk removal crew take them.

How long can I keep the container?

The standard rental is up to 7 days. If the job runs on, call or text and we extend it at a low daily rate. In Centennial, a driveway dumpster on work that needs no City building permit can stay only 7 consecutive days.

Do you serve outside Parker?

Yes — sixteen more towns across Douglas, Arapahoe and Elbert counties, from Littleton to Kiowa. Each has its own page. A few of our towns license the haulers that work inside their limits — we are licensed in the towns that require it — and we say so plainly on each page.
