The 20 yard container in Parker

When somebody calls and is not sure, the 20 yard is where we usually end up — it is the most popular size we rent in Parker. It handles the jobs most homes and small job sites produce — a kitchen and bath remodel, a whole-home cleanout, a multi-room renovation, a roof, a big landscaping job, light demolition of framing, doors and windows — without being so tall that loading turns into a chore. It holds about six pickup loads, or 110 to 130 trash bags.

It is about 22 feet long, which is the thing to check: that is most of a two-car driveway. Where it fits, it fits everything else about the job.

Renovations, roofs, whole-home cleanouts

A kitchen and bath together, flooring through the house plus the cabinets, a whole house cleared before a sale or a move — these are 20 yard jobs. Roofers use it on most homes. Tell us it is a roof and roughly how big, and we estimate the weight before the truck leaves the yard.

It is also the standard box for light demolition and mixed construction debris — wood, drywall, framing, windows — and for big landscaping jobs: branches, shrubs and green waste, with dirt and rock kept separate unless we have approved it. If more than half the load is tile, plaster, concrete or dirt, the 10 yard is the smarter weight call.

What the 20 yard includes

Delivery, pickup, the standard rental of up to 7 days and disposal up to the included three to four tons — about 6,000 to 8,000 pounds — all in one flat price, with boards under the dumpster on request. No hidden fuel or environmental add-ons. If you are loading shingles, tile or concrete and think you will go over, say so when you book — we would rather plan it than surprise you.

Suitability

Is the 20 yard the right size for you?

Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.

Choose the 20 yard for

  • Kitchen and bathroom remodels
  • Whole-home cleanouts and moves
  • Multi-room renovations, flooring and drywall
  • Roofing on most homes
  • Large landscaping jobs and light demolition

Pick a different size for

  • All-concrete, all-brick or all-dirt loads (use a 10 loaded level)
  • Major construction and demolition — that is a 30 or 40
  • Driveways without about 22 feet of clear length plus room for the truck
  • Asbestos, paint, propane tanks, tires, car batteries, electronics, or fridges and A/C units with refrigerant

Placing a 20 yard container on a Parker-area property

It needs a flat, stable spot about 22 feet long and 7.5 feet wide, about 60 feet of clear approach for the truck, and about 25 feet of clearance overhead — no low power lines or branches. On your own driveway or lot in Parker we found no Town permit for a roll-off; in the Town right-of-way, a dumpster that stays more than 24 hours needs a Street Occupancy Permit through eTRAKiT — call Engineering and Public Works at 303.840.9546 first. Other towns have their own rules — Castle Pines charges $370 for a 90-day street permit, Aurora does not allow dumpsters on the public street, and Centennial limits a driveway dumpster to 7 days without a building permit. Check your HOA too: covenants can cover containers in driveways. Boards go under the dumpster on request. Each town page covers its own code.

20 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked

How many pickup loads is a 20 yard dumpster?

About six, or 110 to 130 trash bags. Think of it as a whole house of furniture and junk, or a kitchen plus a bathroom plus the flooring.

Can a 20 yard fit in a Parker driveway?

Usually — it fits most two-car driveways. It is about 22 feet long and 7.5 feet wide, and the truck needs about 60 feet of approach to set it down. On your own driveway we found no Town of Parker permit for a roll-off. The street is different: the Town requires a Street Occupancy Permit, applied for on eTRAKiT, for a dumpster in the Town right-of-way for more than 24 hours, so call Engineering and Public Works at 303.840.9546 before you plan on the street. In Highlands Ranch, HRCA says dumpsters go in the driveway and not the public right-of-way.

What is the weight limit on a 20 yard?

Three to four tons — about 6,000 to 8,000 pounds — included, depending on the material. Shingles, tile, concrete and wet green waste are the loads that test it; household junk and remodel debris do not.

How long is the rental?

The standard rental is up to 7 days, with extensions at a low daily rate if the job runs on. Call or text before the pickup date.

Can I get a 20 yard the same day?

Often. Call before noon and we can usually have it on your site within hours in Parker and the closest towns — Foxfield, Lone Tree, Centennial and Franktown are roughly 5 to 11 road miles from the yard. The towns furthest out, like Kiowa, Larkspur and Roxborough Park at about 27 to 28 miles, are more often next day. It depends on availability, and we tell you straight.

We run roll-off containers out of the Dransfeldt Road yard to every town below. Parker and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more often next-day. A few towns license the haulers that work inside their limits, and several keep containers off the street — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
