Highlands Ranch is approx. 12 road miles from the yard to the middle of the community, around 23 minutes, and same-day when you call before noon. Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Highlands Ranch
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Who runs what — the Highlands Ranch Metro District handles parks, trails, open space and water; Douglas County handles roads, planning and public safety; HRCA handles covenants and recreation.
- Private trash, set zone days — Waste Connections runs an HRCA opt-in program at a discounted rate. It is not mandatory, but whichever hauler you use, pickup must be on your zone's day.
- From cattle ranch to planned community — Highlands Ranch began as a cattle ranch in the 1800s and became a master-planned community in 1981. HRCA serves over 30,000 households.
- Backcountry Wilderness Area — 8,200 acres with 26 miles of trails, on top of the Metro District's 26 parks, 70-plus miles of trails and the Highlands Ranch Mansion.
- Clear the Clutter — HRCA's residents-only drop-off days do not take construction debris, dirt, concrete, appliances, electronics, tires or batteries.

What comes out of Highlands Ranch properties
Kitchens, baths and basements in 15s and 20s, garage clear-outs and move-outs in 15s and 20s, and a 10 for concrete and landscape rock. Clear the Clutter turns away construction debris and concrete, and the weekly cart was never built for them — that is container work. HRCA covenants also say debris may not pile up on a lot unless it is enclosed or screened, so a roll-off keeps the job tidy.

Choosing a container size in Highlands Ranch
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Highlands Ranch
Who may haul: we found no Douglas County hauler licence and no franchise; the HRCA trash program is opt-in. Nothing we found restricts who may run a roll-off here.
Placement — the rule that matters: HRCA says it plainly: "Dumpsters and storage pods must be placed in your driveway and are not allowed on a public right-of-way per Douglas County officials." So the container goes on your driveway.
Tell HRCA: "If you need to have a dumpster or storage pod in your driveway, please contact the HRCA Community Improvement Services Department at 303-471-8821 or covenant@hrcaonline.org. Provide your address and time frame." Sub-associations may have extra rules of their own — check yours too.
Knocking something down: Douglas County needs a Demolition Permit when any building or part of one is permanently removed — $47 per structure, with an evaluation form and utilities shut off first. Colorado's asbestos inspection and 10-working-day CDPHE demolition notice apply on top.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Highlands Ranch
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it below the top rail and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil, liquids, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, TVs and computers, and fridges or A/C units with refrigerant still in them. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and dispose of it right
The load goes to a permitted landfill such as the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site, with metal, concrete, cardboard and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.
